Patna: At least 23 people were killed in rain-related incidents in Bihar where several areas have been flooded due to incessant downpour during the last five days. Four sons of Devnarain Soren were killed when his mud house collapsed at Bharidih village in Katihar district on Monday, officials said. Four persons were killed when the boundary wall of the Krishi Bazaar Samiti collapsed in Motijheel locality of Muzaffarpur town this morning, while a woman and her five children were buried alive when their house collapsed in Aziz Shah locality of Biharsharif, headquarter of Nalanda district, yesterday, officials said. Another person was killed in wall collapse in Khadi Kuan area of Silao town in Nalanda district yesterday. Four persons lost their lives when their houses caved in during heavy rain in Kahalgaon and Sabaur blocks of Bhagalpur district today, they said. A man was killed when the roof of his under-construction house caved in at Gulni village in Nalanda, officials said adding a newly constructed wall of the Sadar hospital at Munger collapsed killing one person yesterday. A four-year-old girl died at Bhagwanpur village in Barh sub-division of Patna district when her mud-and-thatch house collapsed, while one person was swept away by strong currents of Dhawa river in Aurangabad district. Five days of incessant rains and the release of large volume of water from the Chandan dam have flooded over 100 villages in Jagdishpur, Gauradih, Sanhaula, Kahalgaon, Sabaur and Nathnagar blocks. -- PTI
