dated September 27, 1956: Nehru on Suez solution

"I think that recognising fully the right of Egypt over the Suez Canal and recognising also the right of the Suez Canal being treated as an international waterway, there should be no difficulty in finding a peaceful, friendly and co-operative solution," said Prime Minister Nehru, while replying to a civic reception in Riyadh on September 25. Earlier, Mr. Nehru conferred with King Saud of Saudi Arabia for about two hours at the Al Hamra, the King's palace. This was his first formal meeting with the King after arrival in Riyadh on a three-day goodwill visit.
