dated September 27, 1956: Central Govt. offices

The Government are considering the possibility of locating some Central Government offices in the former State capitals which cease to be capitals owing to the reorganisation of States. The intention is to preserve the importance of these towns and to see that their inhabitants do not suffer as a result of the States' reorganisation. A circular has been sent to the Ministries asking for suggestions regarding the offices to be located in these towns.
