Somnath honoured

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was on Tuesday awarded a gold medal as a "token of esteem and friendship" by the Parliament of Greece in Athens.

A press release issued here by his office said the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Professor Anna Benaki, conferred the award on him on the occasion of the celebrations to mark 150 years of constitutional life in the country.

Mr. Chatterjee, who is now leading a parliamentary delegation to Greece, accepted the award on behalf of Parliament.
