BJP yet to decide on tie-up with TRS

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken no decision yet on supporting the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said on Tuesday.

He, however, confirmed that TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao had spoken over telephone to BJP president Rajnath Singh after leaving the United Progressive Alliance. Mr. Javadekar said Mr. Singh offered no support to the TRS.

In fact, the BJP's Andhra Pradesh unit had said that when election was held for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, the party would contest it.

This meant that the BJP would put up a candidate against Mr. Rao.

However, the party reiterated its firm support to the cause of a separate Telangana.
