DHARWAD: "Suvarna Samskruti Dibbana", a cultural procession to showcase the culture and heritage of Karnataka, being organised to mark the 50th year of founding of the State, will arrive at Hubli on October 18. Throughout the State, eight such "dibbanas" are planned and the one starting from Kittur in Belgaum district would pass through Hubli. A preliminary meeting to discuss the preparations to be made for the cultural procession and other arrangements was held here on Tuesday, which was chaired by S.S. Nagathana, tahsildar of Hubli taluk. The meeting decided to welcome the "dibbana" at the entrance of Sri Siddharoodh Math and then take it to Indira Glass House via Durgada Bail. It also decided to conduct cultural programmes at the Glass House as part of the programme. K.H. Chennur, Assistant Director of Department of Kannada and Culture, gave information on the route of the "dibbana". Starting from Kittur, the cultural procession would pass through Gadag, Dharwad, Hulikoppa, Kalaghatgi, Hubli, Kundagol, Annigeri and Navalgund in the district and then go to Naragund in Gadag district, he said. Those interested in participating in the procession are requested to register their names with the Deputy Tahsildar before October 2.
