Regulatory order for 15 days

Special Correspondent

Puducherry: Additional Senior Superintendent of Police of Puducherry B. Srikanth said here in a release on Monday that a regulatory order under Section 30 (2) of the Police Act was clamped on the entire region of Puducherry from Tuesday (September 26).

The order would be in force for 15 days.

He said this was because there was the likelihood of breach of peace in the region owing to agitations and demonstrations proposed to be launched by certain political parties and organisations because of the bandh on Tuesday (called by the JIPMER Anti Conversion Action Committee to protest the Central cabinet's decision to convert the institute into an autonomous body).

The regulatory order was clamped covering the North, South and Rural sub divisions and would be in force till October 10.

It would not, however, govern marriage celebrations, holding of religious and government functions or funerals.
