VISAKHAPATNAM: The head coach of Indian junior (under-19) women's team Mohamed Kalander said that the team had reached his expectations and could have improved had there been more practice matches. He was speaking at the conclusion of the 60-day camp for the probables at the Port Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. A 12-member Indian team was announced at a brief function at the venue. The team will leave for Nakhon, Thailand, to participate in the 13th Asian junior championship.
Coach happy
The coach was happy with the attack and blocking of the team during a practice match against the Sports Authority of AP Academy's boys. He added that reception was not weak and had improved a lot during the camp. An experienced setter, A.K. Akshatha, a member of the gold medal-winning Indian team at the recently held South Asian Games in Colombo will lead the team. Dr. Shanta, wife of VPT Deputy Chairman, M.S. Rao, presented the team members with tracksuits. The team: A.K. Akshatha (captain), Minimol Abraham, N. Bijina, K. Reshma, M. Kalaivani, Sneha Singh, E. Mounika, Arsia Sheik, Piyali Roy, K.V. Pavithra, Parui Doli, Aruna Tomar. Head coach: Mohamed Kalander. Assistant coach: Mrs. B. Ravindra. Trainer: E. Venkateshwar Rao. Manager: D. Naresh Kumar.
