HYDERABAD: Y.V. Subba Reddy, a close relative of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has denied reports that he owned 68 acres of land, costing Rs. 100 crore near Kollur along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project. He said he had purchased only 6.38 acres there last November, a month before the notification for acquisition of land for ORR was issued. There was no truth in reports that the transaction was linked to the implementation of the project, he said at a news conference on Tuesday. Mr. Reddy said the land was located a kilometre away from the ORR. Another piece of land, measuring 2.13 acres, which he had bought around the same time was close to ORR but he lost 1.37 acres under the project. He asked the Telugu daily that raised the controversy to produce documentary evidence or face legal action. He alleged that the daily used him and other relatives as pawns to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister. He added that he was in the business of real estate for the last 15 years. As part of his business, he had bought and sold 75 acres at Kollur and Tellapur from 1996 to 2001.
