TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday brushed aside as `political drama' the opposition being orchestrated against him and his Government on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) controversy. In a brief chat with mediapersons at SVIMS hospital here, Dr. Reddy, however, agreed that in view of the dust kicked up by the opposition, he would go to the people's court soon to place all the facts before them and seek their verdict. He lambasted the TDP for causing a furore once again on the ORR issue after it had been discussed threadbare on the floor of the House.
Political mileage
They were not clear as to what they needed from the Government on the issue when they held prolonged debates in the House, he said and added that their intention clearly was `deriving political mileage.' To reinforce his defence against the allegations, Reddy pointed out that even the High Court had dismissed 20 writ petitions on the ORR contending that it did not find any prima facie evidence of arbitrary changes made to the ORR alignment.
On TRS
Asked for his comments on TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao's reported offer to the Congress to reconsider his decision on the party's ties with the Congress, if the latter gave him a clear-cut commitment on separate statehood, Dr. Reddy once chanted the `Sonia mantra.' "We have already said that we have left the matter to the discretion of Sonia Gandhi and what is there for us to say again," he said.
Performs homam
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday morning performed the `Sudarsana Homam' and `Nava Graha Shanti Homam.' The programme was conducted at the official quarters of the TTD chief priest Venkataramana Deekshitulu. No one was allowed, including officials and mediapersons, to enter the quarters. The only participants besides the Chief Minister were his sister-in-law, Swarnamma, and his two staunch followers, the TTD chairman B.Karunakar Reddy and Sureedu.
