CHANDIGARH: Paddy has started arriving in the grain markets of Haryana since Monday, according to the Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan. Giving details here on Tuesday, Mr. Chander Mohan said that so far 55,605 metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the 173 mandis across the State. Out of the total paddy arrival, 37,484 metric tonnes had been procured by five Government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 18,121 metric tonnes had been purchased by private millers and traders. He said that Kurukshetra district was leading with 21,571 metric tonnes followed by Karnal with 11,414 metric tonnes. Fatehabad 7,656 metric tonnes and Kaithal 6,110 metric tonnes. The Haryana Government had arranged Rs. 1,000 crores so that the farmers were paid within 48 hours to 72 hours, he said.
