YSR to lay stone for Tarakarama project

  • VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Marketing B. Satyanarayana has said Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is being invited to lay the foundation stone for the Tarakarama Theertha Sagar and Chipurupalli Drinking Water Scheme between October 11 and 15. The Chief Minister would also participate in local programmes and address a public meeting in Vizianagaram, he said.

    After a review meeting with officials at the R&B guest house here on Tuesday, the Minister told a press conference that work on the Thotapalli project was going on as per schedule and the relief and rehabilitation package for Peddagedda project oustees was also being settled in stages.

    The Minister said there was delay in land acquisition for Thotapalli canal works. With regard to relief and rehabilitation package for 89 families of the Peddagedda project, the Minister said they would be rehabilitated in the next five or six months.

    Housing

    Stating that housing in the town had become a major problem, he said 3,600 pattas had been distributed to date and possession certificates would be issued shortly. It was decided to construct 465 ground-plus-one housing units on government land at Kondakarakam village for weaker sections.

    With regard to irregularities in the recruitment of anganwadi workers, the Minister said discrepancies in the selection process had come to his notice from three villages, that is, Kurmarajupeta, Mamidipalli and Kondukuppa, and he had instructed the district Collector to rectify them.

    Earlier, the Minister distributed house site possession certificates to 130 families in the town.
