Spastic Society to celebrate 25th anniversary
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
The Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu (SPASTN) will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on October 7.
Minister for Human Resources and Development D. Purandeswari will be the chief guest. She will release a book on `Special yoga for children with special needs'.
SPASTN was initially started with five children on the precincts of the C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer Foundation. The first secretary of the institution, Sarah Chanda, saw the allotment of five acres of land in Taramani by the State Government in 1982.
Today, it has multiple facilities to help people achieve the objectives of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
