HYDERABAD : Two boys got electrocuted when a live wire fell on the auto-rickshaw in which they were sitting at Golconda on Tuesday night. The death of Mohd. Basheer Khan, 10, and his cousin living next door Yahiya Khan, 7, left residents of Shatamnagar in Mohammadi Lines shell-shocked. Basheer's father Wahab, an auto-rickshaw driver, parked the vehicle near his house. Around 8.30 p.m., it started raining. "Basheer went out and sat inside the three-wheeler apparently to watch the rain and invited Yahiya Khan who joined him," locals said.
Metre box point
The service wire connected to Basheer Khan's house snapped near the metre box point of his house and fell on the three-wheeler. "As it was raining heavily, none could notice the boys getting electrocuted. By the time we rushed out on hearing the noise and cries, everything was over," the residents said.
Short circuit
Karvan MLA Afsar Khan of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen visited the spot and inquired about the incident. The Golconda police said the live wire may have snapped due to short circuit, they observed.
