Ex-convict held

HYDERABAD: The Tappachabutra police on Tuesday arrested an ex-convict Habeeb Abbas, 25, and seized stolen gold ornaments, electronic goods, a car and two motorcycles, all worth Rs. 7 lakhs, were recovered from him.

Abbas of Balapur had been committing burglaries since he was a boy of 12 years, Tappachabutra Inspector M.S. Venugopal Rao told reporters here. He used to enter premises of a house during the night, unbolt the door by inserting his hand through the window adjacent to the main door and take away the property. Later, he began following a method of cutting off iron grills of windows using an iron cutter and sneaking inside the house.

Abbas used a motorcycle to move around looking out for locked houses that he can burgle. As police keep a tab on convicts released from jail, he stole a car and began travelling in it committing burglaries select houses .
