Son assures support to police in Belgian woman murder case

Staff Reporter

"How dare he touch my mother?" says Donatien, son of Isabelle Dessoy

NEW DELHI: The teenaged son of the 47-year-old Belgian woman who was brutally murdered by her driver at her residence in the posh Vasant Vihar area of the Capital this past Saturday has vowed to do all he can to see that the accused is punished for what he had done to his mother.

Statement

"How dare he touch my mother?" said Donatien -- son of Isabelle Dessoy -- when the policemen were recording his statement. Isabelle had called him on his mobile phone on the fateful night informing him that she had been stabbed. He was the first to reach the house and discover his mother's body, following which he called in the police.

According to the police, investigations so far reveal that Isabelle's driver Vijay Chaudhry murdered her as she had threatened to sack him because of his dominating behaviour. During interrogation, Vijay claimed that in the past year Isabelle had become very close to him and last December they had gone on a trip to Hong Kong and Thailand. She would spend on him lavishly. Vijay claimed that Donatien was aware of the relationship.

Clinching evidence

Now that Donatien has lost his mother, who had been living separately from his father, he has assured all support to the police to ensure Vijay's conviction in court.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West Delhi) Ravinder Yadav on Tuesday said the police had clinching evidence to prove the case in the court against Vijay. Apart from the weapon of offence, the police have seized his bloodstained clothes. They are also going through Vijay's mobile phone records to corroborate his statement about his movements before and after Isabelle's murder.
