Man allegedly kills his wife
According to the police, it all happened on Monday evening when Tilak Raj allegedly stabbed his wife Rameshwari and then consumed some poisonous substance. They were both rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College where Rameshwari was declared dead on arrival. Tilak Raj was kept under observation and is now stated to be out of danger. On the basis of a complaint lodged by Rameshwari's relatives alleging that she was being harassed for dowry by her husband and in-laws, the police have registered a case of dowry death and arrested Tilak Raj's brothers, Man Singh and Ram Swarup. Tilak Raj has been named the prime accused in the case.
Four alleged auto-lifters held
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad of the East Delhi police arrested the accused when they were travelling in a Maruti car in the Vivek Vihar area a few days ago. The four have been identified as Ram Kumar Gupta, Mukesh Pandey, Praveen and Bobby Chauhan. The police claim to have recovered a Tata Sumo Victa, a Mahendra Scorpio and two more Maruti cars from them. The police said the accused used to work for Tej Singh Yadav and Subhash Yadav, both alleged auto-lifters based in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Barring Praveen, all the other accused hailed from Morena and Gwalior. They used to visit Delhi frequently for stealing vehicles.
