`Integrated approach must to take technology from laboratory to market'

BANGALORE: Effective technology transfer from the laboratory to the market requires interaction between scientists, technologists, economists, sociologists, public administrators, entrepreneurs and customers. Naval Materials Research Laboratory director J. Narayana Das advocating this relationship between research laboratories and the market here on Tuesday, while delivering the CSIR Foundation Day of the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) on "Taking technology from laboratory to market". Dr. Das said the market segment should be known even before a product was designed. An integrated approach was required for the product configuration, he added.

Dr. Das raised several questions on the impact of products made over the years by the country's 15,000 engineers and scientists, employed by over 100 Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratories.
