Just form an association and plan an international event

HYDERABAD: How to make money in sports? It's simple. Form an association. Have plans to host an international event named after a former Prime Minister. Submit the proposals to the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

If the SAAP declines it on the grounds of not being affiliated to AP Olympic Association, then there is another way out. For the APOA is more than keen to give you a unique "provisional recognition" which is mandatory to get the final clearance from the Government. It is a different matter that the same recognition will be cancelled by the APOA within a few months after "verification". Now, a Vizag-based Budokan Association has adopted this procedure and is hoping for a favourable response. Why not? As per the SAAP guidelines, any association will be given a grant of Rs.15 lakhs to host an international tournament.

L.Venkatram Reddy, secretary of APOA, himself provided The Hindu copies of how an association sought provisional recognition and also got it cancelled. But why does APOA in the first instance give these affiliations?
