GUNTUR : The Society for Training and Employment Promotion has asked Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation to provide on-line connection to Rural Service Delivery Points (RSDP) or rural e-Seva Centres to take up advance booking for buses. The STEP chief executive officer V. Mark on Wednesday met RTC Guntur regional manager G. Jaya Rao and wanted the corporation to sanction at least five to six centres on the outskirts of Guntur city as a pilot project. This would help the RTC improve its business and the persons running Rural eSeva centres would get some additional customers to sustain their centre economically. People would get to reserve their bus tickets from semi-urban and rural areas without having to visit the bus station. There were about 75 RSDP centres running in the district and all of them also can be provided the facility, Mr. Rao said. The STEP official also wanted concessional bus fares to be charged for unemployed youth coming for various training programmes organised by the society and the RTC officials readily accepted to issue such tickets.
