KOZHIKODE: An environment cleaning programme, health survey and tree planting as part of beautification of National Highway, was conducted under the aegis of the Koodathumpara Desha Raksha Samiti and the National Cadet Corps of the Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode. Scores of people, including Kudumbasree self-help groups, cultural associations, political representatives, and voluntary organisations participated in the programme conducted in the hilly terrain of the district. The NCC cadets conducted a health survey in 304 houses in areas of Kadathumpara, and Iringalur. Even children below five years participated in the initiative. They also cleared the National Highway of the garbage strewn around. The activities were led by NCC Associate officer Captain P.C. Devaraj and others. Olavanna Grama Panchayat president Ravi Parasseri inaugurated the cleaning and tree-planting drive. Members of the grama panchayat, and others were present at the programme. A health awareness class was organised, later in the day.
