HYDERABAD: M. Nitin Sai Reddy's fine knock of 113 helped All Saints HS record a convincing 213-run win over Mahabub College HS in the Himalaya Cup inter-school U-15 cricket tournament here on Wednesday. The scores: All Saints 289 for five (M. Nitin Sai Reddy 113, M. Varun Reddy 52, Sandeep Goud 45, Shiva Varmani 33 not out) bt Mahabub College HS 76 (Venkatesh four for 23); Don Bosco HS 124 (Shahbazuddin 66, Rahul Reddy five for 10) lost to Cal Public School 125 for two (Rayan 49 not out, Rahul Ranout 33 not out); Samaritans HS 89 (Ravi Teja three for 20) lost to Gowtham Model School 92 for five (Sai Jagadish 40 not out); Niraj Public School 68 (Parashar three for 23, Zeeshan Ali three for 18) lost to St. Andrews' `A' 70 for two.
Rainbow Club wins
Rainbow Club defeated Cantonment Area Sports Club 3-0 in the B-Division super league hockey championship at the Gymkhana Grounds here. B. Sashanth Kumar struck twice in the eighth and 15th minutes and a fine solo effort by S. Abhinava Reddy completed the tally for the winner. However, SAAP Academy (Nalgonda) emerged champion in the league finishing with four points, followed by Rainbow Club and CASC.
Inter-district cycling
The AP Cycling Association will organise inter-district road cycling championship-cum-selection trials at Rajahmundry on Oct. 7 and 8. The teams to take part in the 12th senior and junior Nationals will be picked based on the performances in the above meet. For details, contact Durga Prasad at 9848065967.
Narrow win for SCFA
Sarojini Cricket & Fitness Academy scored a three-wicket win over Imtiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy, Bangalore in the first of the three-match series. The scores: Imtiaz Ahmed CA 100 in 22.3 overs (Namith 31, G. Rohit three for 21, Navjoth Singh three for 20, Mukesh Gilada three for 24) lost to Sarojini CFA 101 for seven in 23 overs (P. Krishna 31, Zeeshan three for 27, Deepak three for 29).
SFDAP's plea to SAAP
The Sports Federation for Disabled (AP) appealed to the Sports Authority of AP to include some competitions for the disabled in the Chief Minister's Cup State-level U-19 sports meet commencing from Sept. 30. In a statement, the federation reminded that the subject was discussed with sports minister M. Satyanarayana Rao and other top SAAP officials some time back and it was assured of a positive response. "Since nothing has happened till now, we appeal to the authorities to consider our request at least now," the statement said. SFDAP warned that it would approach the High Court if there was no immediate response.
