Ryotu Sangham plans protest in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD:
Andhra Pradesh Ryotu Sangham will stage a major demonstration in the city on October 30 in protest against what it called the Government's indifference towards farmers.
The demonstration would be preceded by a Statewide awareness campaign from October 22, in which four different jeep `jathas' would be taken out. The `jathas' would start from Chittoor, Tada in Nellore, Ichaparum in Srikakulam and Adilabad on October 22 and arrive in the city on October 30 after visiting different places.
Disclosing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Ryotu Sangham president K. Ramakrishna and All-India Kisan Sabha vice-president K. Nageswara Rao said leaders of the Kisan Sabha and the CPI would participate in the protest programme.
It was being organised in support of their demands like waiver of farm loans, steps to ensure remunerative prices to farmers and measures to protect tenant farmers on endowment lands. Implementation of comprehensive crop insurance scheme had been demanded by the sangham.
