Naidu demands YSR's resignation for `fair probe'
|
HYDERABAD:
Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the Chief Minister had ordered a CBI inquiry into change in Outer Ring Road (ORR) alignment to buy time, dilute the issue and divert people's attention.
Addressing members of the TDP's State Committee, Mr. Naidu reiterated his demand that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhera Reddy should step down to pave the way for a fair inquiry.
He said his party had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court with documentary evidence as to how those close to the Chief Minister and others in the ruling party had misused power and benefited from the land transactions along the ORR. It was not just for seeking court order on CBI inquiry but to make the Government submit to the court a detailed report on alignment, acquisition and transactions in 30 days.
The petition was intended to seek explanation from relatives of the Chief Minister and others in the ruling party as to how they managed to buy large extents of land and the role played by State agencies in issuing land acquisition notices and withdrawing them, he added.
