PATANCHERU (MEDAK): CPI(M) floor leader in State Assembly Nomula Narsimhaiah has demanded a probe by a sitting judge into the alleged irregularities in land acquisition for the Outer Ring Road project. He along with the Medak district committee party secretary Chukka Ramulu visited the affected Kolleru, Velmela, Edula Nagulapalli and Sultanpur villages of Ramachandrapuram mandal in the district on Tuesday. Rejecting the offer by the Chief Minister for a CBI probe he pointed out that investigation by one more Government agency would do no justice. He ridiculed that the Chief Minister, in ordering an inquiry has inadvertently admitted that severe violations have occurred in the land acquisition process. He pointed out that the Chief Minister could not compare the probe on Paritala Ravi's murder to the ORR issue as this has affected the lives of thousands of families. He demanded land for all the displaced either from the Government's land basket or through acquisition. Speaking to reporters in Kollur, Nomula said that his party is not against construction of the road, which is meant to ease mounting traffic, but it has objection on the way the land has been acquired from the poor farmers and how the realtors have benefited in the deal. He said that CPI(M) would organise a rastaroko on NH9 near Muthangi, one of the four junctions on the proposed ORR on October 12 along with other junction in Rangareddy district.
Women reject deal
Some of the villagers in Kollur, particularly the women told the visiting CPI(M) leaders that they want their lands back and rejected the demand for alternative sites. Manemma, Sattemma and Lalitha who will be losing two acres each in the proposed ORR project suspect that soon that land will also be taken over by the Government for the mega housing projects abutting the ORR. Others who have small holdings supported the idea of alternative sites.
