Chandiwala hospitality festival

NEW DELHI: The Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology will organise a three-day national event, "Chandiwala Hospitality Ensemble-2006", here from October 10.

Delhi Education and Tourism Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely will be the chief guest at the inauguration of the festival that will see a large number of participants from hotel management institutes and other culinary institutions from across the country compete with each other in different disciplines.

Free eye camp at Hastsal village

NEW DELHI: A free eye camp was organised by Tarun Mitra Parishad at Hastsal village in Uttam Nagar here over the weekend.

Former Union Minister Sahib Singh Verma, who inaugurated the camp, said Tarun Mitra Parishad had been helping the needy people in the country for the past 31 years. A medical team from St. Stephen's Hospital examined 259 patients and administered them medicines at the camp. As many as 65 cataract patients were selected for free operations.

"Yog Diwas" to be celebrated in Rohini

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, an organisation preaching and teaching yoga across the country and abroad, will celebrate "Yog Diwas" at Swarn Jayanti Park in Rohini here on October 2. According to a Bharatiya Yog Sansthan release, a large number of sadhaks will take part in yoga demonstration. The whole programme will be conducted by `sadhaks', `sadhikas' and `kishores'.

Delhi Govt. increases kerosene quota

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has decided to increase the kerosene quota for ration card holders in the above Poverty Line category by two litres.

This was approved at a Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here on Monday, after it was found that Delhi was not lifting its entire quota of kerosene due to reduction in the number of ration card holders, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan told reporters on Tuesday.

``The Central government's sanctioned quota of kerosene oil for the capital is 18,040 litres on a monthly basis. But the Food and Civil Supplies Department is lifting only 16,800 litres. To ensure 100 percent lifting, we have decided to enhance the quota by two litres from 8 to 10 litres per rationcard,'' he added.

Annual Sports Day

NEW DELHI: The Study, one of the Capital's oldest nursery schools, will organise its annual Sports Day at its Golf Link premises here on Thursday.

Manav Singh Sandhu, the country's gold medallist for trap shooting, will be present on the occasion. Established on January 5 in 1972, the nursery school has been organising various activities.
