HYDERABAD: These are the sentinels that withstood the test of time, all of 2,500 million years, in the Deccan plateau.

The rock formations of Hyderabad, Medak, Nizamabad and Ranga Reddy districts have been shaped by natureand remind us of the importance of conserving them.

Pictures of these age-old rocks, depicting the urgent need for conservation, taken by S.K. Rahman of JNTU Fine Arts College in black and white, are on display at an exhibition inaugurated on Wednesday at State Art Gallery.

He has also displayed photographs of several heritage structures in the twin cities, which are fighting for their survival in the midst of rampant urbanisation.
