Belgium team to visit Chennai

To explore business opportunities in the State The visit comes as business ties move beyond the traditional diamond trade

CHENNAI: A multi-sectoral delegation from Belgium will visit Chennai in March next year to explore trade and business opportunities in the State, according to Jayant Nadiger,

Trade Commissioner of Flanders. The composition of the delegation is yet to be firmed up.

Representatives

But, it would have representatives from the fields of chemical and petrochemicals, logistics, food processing, retail and services sector, he told a meeting organised here on Wednesday by the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Smart growth

The proposed visit, with representatives from the information technology industry too, comes in the backdrop of the Indo-Belgium bilateral trade registering smart growth beyond the traditional trade in diamond.

"Non-diamond business is growing at an exciting rate of 45 per cent in the last few years," he declared, while listing textiles, coffee and services among sectors that is driving the growth.
