`Schools should help students develop the three Hs'

BANGALORE: It was a proud moment for the present and former students, teachers and parents of Stella Maris School, Gayathridevi Park Extension, when the golden jubilee celebration of the institution kicked off recently.

Melwyn Pinto, principal, St. Joseph's Indian High School, who was the chief guest, unveiled the golden jubilee logo. He lauded the sisters of the school and said that works of mercy never go unnoticed. Fr. Pinto said that educational institutions should help develop the "three Hs" (head, hand and heart) of a student. "This is essential to make a difference to society," he said.

Headmistress Therse Marie welcomed the gathering.

Silver jubilee

The silver jubilee celebration of Pavan English School, Srirampuram, was organised at Prof. M. Shadaksharaswamy Auditorium recently. C.B. Jayaranga, Block Education Officer (Bangalore North), Mala Chakravarthy, Department of Sanskrit, Bangalore University, Vijayalakshmi, Head of the Paediatrics Department, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, and Vidwan G.R. Sreenivasadesilachar were the chief guests.

The toppers and meritorious students of Secondary School Leaving Examination (SSLC) were given cash prizes at the function. A cultural programme followed later.

Teacher's Day

The dawn of Teacher's Day at Florence Public School, R.T. Nagar, started off with paying rich tributes of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The student council leaders aired their views on this auspicious day. They expressed and emphasised their duties towards their teachers and the nation.

The student leaders went ahead further visualising themselves as future teachers. They expressed their opinion on various day-to-day problems faced by teachers. The afternoon session saw entertainment programmes.
