Seat vacant due to death of sitting corporator Abdul Azeez

GUNTUR : The by-election for the corporator's post in Division No.3 of Guntur Municipal Corporation was peaceful on Wednesday. The voter turnout was 56 per cent and the police arrested a couple of impersonating woman voters during the polling.

Sheik Mastan Sharief of the Congress and Mohammed Sheik Shaukat of TDP are the main contenders in the by-election conducted with the help of electronic voting machines. The seat fell vacant due to the death of sitting corporator Abdul Azeez.
