KOCHI : Merchem Ltd. at Eloor has denied any involvement in the reported `fish kill' in Amanthuruthu paddy field near the industrial unit. The Kerala State Pollution Control Board had on Tuesday issued closure order to the company following massive fish kill in the paddy field. Replying to the notice, General Manager of Merchem Saji P. Cherian said the company had never discharged untreated effluents in an unauthorised manner. "The officials of the board had misconstrued the facts and resorted to penal actions without proper inquiry on the matter," he said. Mr. Cherian said that the reported fish kill observed in the paddy field was located at higher elevation in the northern side of their factory.
