Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Meena Kumari and Justice Laxman Reddy on Wednesday granted conditional interim stay of further proceedings in the maintenance case wherein Mukkaram Jah, grandson of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, was directed to pay maintenance to his erstwhile wife Manolya and his daughter.
It may be recalled that Manolya filed a case for maintenance and the family court directed Mukkaram Jah to pay $15,000 a month to his daughter in Turkey and give lump sum amount towards final settlement to Manolya. Mukkaram Jah alleged that this lump sum amount come up to Rs. 13 crores, whereas Manolya claimed that it would be Rs. 16 crores. While taking on record appeals filed by both the parties, the court granted interim stay of further proceedings on the condition that the former deposit Rs. 2 crores and continue to pay $ 10,000 every month to his daughter in Turkey. The case will be heard after Dasara vacation.
