Course in finance, banking soon

IFIM B-School has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), Mumbai, to conduct a Certificate Programme on Advanced Management Programme (AMP) in Banking and Finance for the executives of commercial banks.

The MoU was executed between IIBF represented by Chief Executive Officer R. Bhaskaran while IFIM B-School represented by director R.K. Vijayasarathy. The AMP is scheduled to begin in December.

The programme will run in three trimesters spanning 11 months with 320 teaching hours and 70 hours of project work. The programme will have a minimum batch size of 25 candidates. The learning methodology will be a combination of classroom lectures, live case studies, simulation of business operations, individual/group project work and interactive sessions.

The programme will be offered for executives in middle or senior management cadres in banks with over 10 years of experience. The classes will be during evening hours. Faculty will be drawn from IFIM B-School supplemented with practitioners from banks.

The programme promises to equip bankers with risk management tools; prepare and assist bankers to become effective customer relationship managers to leverage every customer relationship; examine issues (using a case analysis approach) relating to corporate governance, operational risks and other related concerns in global banking; stimulate creative and lateral thinking to develop innovative financial products or services; provoke thinking related to leadership styles and team building approaches and hone communication and presentation skills of the participants and sharpen marketing skills.

Kshitij 2007

Technology and management students from Bangalore and the State, here's another chance to prove your mettle in a competitive environment: The next edition of Kshitij, the annual techno-management festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) — Kharagpur will come alive from February 1 to 4. Billed as one of Asia's biggest techno-management fests, the event had attracted over 2,000 students last year. There were several competitions designed to test the technical, managerial and endurance skills of the students, with prize money estimated at Rs. 15 lakh. Youth festival

Bangalore University has organised a three-day youth festival from October 5 to 7 at Jnanajyothi auditorium, Central College campus. The fest, besides providing a platform to the budding artists to exhibit their talents, will help select a contingent to represent the university in the South Zone inter-University Youth Festival.

The affiliated colleges could send their entries to V. Nagesh Bettakote, Coordinator, Youth Festival, Department of Performing Arts, Sneha Bhavan, Jnanabharathi campus, Bangalore University, on or before September 30.
