Thiruvananthapuram: Malayattoor's works are a constant reminder that all are creatures of society in which they live and they should be able to give something back to it in return, said Minister for Culture M.A. Baby on Wednesday. He was presenting the fifth Malayattoor award, instituted by the Malayattoor Smaraka Samithi, here. The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs.15,000, a citation and a sculpture, was presented to litterateur Perumbadavam Sreedharan for his novel `Narayanam.' The Malayattoor prize for the best debut novel was received by Ambikasuthan Mangad for his novel `Marakkappile Theyyangal.'
