MADURAI: On the last date for withdrawal of nominations on Wednesday, 19 candidates are in fray for the Madurai Central Assembly constituency by-election. Symbols have been allotted to the candidates, including 14 Independents. The candidates from recognised political parties (with symbols in brackets) are: V.V. Rajan Chellappa, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (Two Leaves), Syed Ghouse Basha, Dravida Munnetra Kazhama (Rising Sun), K. Ganesan, All India Hindu Mahasaha (Ring), S. Anbanandam, All India Vallalar Peravai (Candles) and M. Pannerselvam, Desiya Dravida Murpoku Kazhagam (Drum), according to a release.
