HYDERABAD: Two foreign nationals allegedly duped a missionary schoolteacher from Shillong of Rs. 9.2 lakhs here two days ago. Based on the 39-year-old teacher Susmtha Deb Bhatt's complaint, the Gopalapuram police on Thursday arrested one person Tony Johnson, a Nigerian settled in South Africa. However, the prime accused and South African national Williams Juakang, who befriended the teacher and took away the money, is still at large. Ms Bhatt's mother died of a heart attack worried over loss of the huge amount, Gopalapuram ACP Mohd. Tajuddin told The Hindu . According to the ACP, Ms Bhatt happened to meet Juakang at a public telephone booth a couple of months ago at Shillong. She claimed that Juakang introduced Johnson to her as his close friend. In the second week of July last, Williams called up Ms. Bhatt saying he was in Hyderabad and urgently needed some money. Ms Bhatt flew down to Hyderabad, gave the money to Williams and returned home after he assured to return the amount at the earliest. A few days ago, he rang up her again stating he was in a financial mess and in need of money. Believing him, she mortgaged her house, collected Rs. 9.2 lakhs and came to the city. Williams, along with Johnson, met her in Basera Hotel on Wednesday, took the money and vanished.
