ABVP activists damage ANU office furniture

Staff Reporter

It's pre-planned, says Registrar of the university

GUNTUR: Activists of ABVP damaged furniture and other things in the office of Acharya Nagarjuna University on Thursday demanding immediate action on one of their representations.

The ABVP demands complete withdrawal of collection of infrastructure development fee from Bachelor of Education colleges in the university jurisdiction.

The activists came to ANU Registrar K. Viyyanna Rao's office, submitted a memorandum and wanted a decision taken then and there. Since the decision was taken at the Executive Council, the plea should also be heard by it, the Registrar said.

Not satisfied with the response, the agitators ransacked the administrative office premises.

The university officials lodged a complaint with the Mangalagiri police.

The Registrar said that he would identify the ABVP activists.

"The entire incident was filmed by some TV channels, which showed that the ABVP attack was pre-planned," said Prof. Viyyanna Rao.
