Gateway Distriparks to set up freight station

KOCHI:
Gateway Distriparks Limited, a port-based logistics provider, will set up a container freight station in Kochi in collaboration with Chakiath group.
A press release said here on Monday that the two companies had signed a joint venture agreement on a 60:40 basis with Gateway Distriparks taking the larger share in the investment.
The total cost of the project, to come up on the Vallarpadam Island, will be Rs.25 crore, said the press release. The container freight station, to be developed in a phased manner, will have the capacity to handle 15,000 TEUs per year and will be set up on an area of 17 acres.
The company has already acquired six acres and another five acres will be acquired by October.
