Centre to include printing industry under CLCS scheme

Staff Reporter

15 per cent subsidy for machinery

KOCHI: Thousands of printers in the State stand to gain from a decision by the Union Finance Ministry to include printing industry under the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy (CLCS) scheme which allows 15 per cent subsidy on purchase of machinery for technological development.

The subsidy is applicable from October 2, said a press release from the All India Federation of Master Printers here on Monday.

The Federation has succeeded in getting the investment limit in micro, small and medium enterprises raised, said the release. For the first time in the history of the Federation, a group tour was organised to London to witness the IPEX exhibition of printing and packaging machineries. With the Federation's intervention, IPEX has agreed to hold Asia exhibition in Noida next year.

The Federation has decided to publish `State of Print India' to explain the capacity of Indian printers. The directory will be forwarded to leading print buyers abroad for print promotion.

This will improve export potential, the Federation claimed.

Visit to China by Federation president R. Suresh helped in getting Chinese machinery-makers' participation in Pamex 2006 in Mumbai in December. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Chinese Printers' Association for cooperation in programmes.
