BANGALORE: The Thalaghatapura police on Thursday arrested 10 persons on charges of creating fake documents and selling 343 acres of land bearing survey number 5 in Uttarahalli Manvarthe Kaval under the Turahalli forest area. The Government has suspended one of the sub-registrars of Kengeri on the charge of registering the sale deed relating to the alleged fraudulent deal, highly placed official sources told The Hindu. The arrests and the suspension follow the media expose' of the land scam, which, on Wednesday created a furore in the special session of the legislature in Belgaum. Bangalore Rural district Superintendent of Police K. Sreenivasa said that eight persons who had created fake documents claiming ownership of the land and two brokers who had helped them in selling it had been arrested.
