India takes up issue of security with Russia
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
India has taken up with Russia the issue of security for its nationals following the suspected racial killing of an Indian medical student in St. Petersburg. Nitish Kumar Singh, a sixth-year student of the St. Petersburg Mechnikov Medical Academy, died on Sunday after being stabbed near his dormitory. Another Indian student was stabbed and injured in the same spot in April.
The Indian Consulate in St. Petersburg is in touch with the family of Mr. Singh and has taken up the issue of security with the local authorities, the External Affairs spokesman Navtej Sarna said here on Thursday.
