Thiruvananthapuram: Computerised tracking and tracing of cargo has become possible for the customers with automation of cargo being lifted by Indian in the domestic sector from Thiruvananthapuram international airport here on Thursday. This is the seventh station of Indian in the country to be automated along with Nagpur. Indian, which operates 40 flights a week to various destinations, including Sharjah and Male, from Thiruvananthapuram, has become the first domestic airline to go for automation of cargo. The function to kick off the automation was inaugurated by Area Marketing Manager, Indian, D. Murali. Now, the movement of cargo booked by the customer is directly fed onto the web site of Indian and can be accessed by the customer through the Internet. First Flight Courier Ltd. booked the first cargo in the automated system. According to Mr. Murali, the international cargo being lifted by Indian from Thiruvananthapuram to Sharjah and Male would be automated soon.
