KOCHI: Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni on Thursday expressed happiness at the increasing interest in farm tourism and home stays in Kerala. She said the Centre would boost village tourism to help the poor. The Minister was speaking after visiting Kumbalanghi, the first model-tourism village in the country. She was received at the village by representatives of the Kumbalanghi Model Tourism Society and the Kumbalanghi grama panchayat. Ms. Soni visited the Grameena Park and the Kallanchery Island where she saw crabs being caught and coconut leaves being woven. She was accompanied by Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, K.V. Thomas, MLA., andJoint Secretary, Union Tourism Ministry, Amitab Kant, among others.
