Strange protest by a panchayat president

A protest by Thamarassery grama panchayat president Suma Rajesh in Kozhikode district last week in front of her own office evoked curiosity among the public. Ms. Suma led a sit-in by Congress workers to protest against the alleged move of the Government to scuttle the health insurance introduced by the previous United Democratic Front Government. Residents of Thamarassery were confused why the panchayat president was staging the demonstration when the UDF was in power at the Thamarassery grama panchayat.
