Hubli-Dharwad
Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: Residents of ward number 37 of Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation staged a demonstration and "rasta roko" here on Thursday protesting against a bad road. Those who participated in the protest led by Yuva Samata Sena, alleged that the Devaragudihala Cross Road off Karwar Road, which belonged to the Public Works Department, was in a pathetic condition due to the "apathy" of the officials. Although the residents of Bafna Layout, Subhash Nagar, Vishal Nagar, Sadat Colony, Gokul Dhama, Jawahar Nagar, UKT Hills, Shimla Nagar and surrounding areas had complained several times, no action had been taken, they alleged.
Haphazard manner
Moreover, truck drivers parked their vehicles in a haphazard manner on the road, causing inconvenience to the residents. Even the Police Department had not take any action despite complaints, they alleged. The protestors, led by the State unit president of the sena, submitted memoranda to both the departments urging action within a fortnight.
