BELGAUM: Politicians couldn't care less about rules and regulations when it comes to erecting huge cut-outs, posters, banners and buntings, as was evident during the legislature session in Belgaum. From the railway station to the venue of the session (KLE society's medial college campus), political parties and politicians have put up posters. There is a poster at every available space along the road to the venue. Though the Belgaum district administration has banned posters and cut-outs, it has been observed in its breach. The district administration too has decided to turn a blind eye to the offence, much to the chagrin of the people of Belgaum. Former ministers B.K. Chandrashekar and G. Parameshwar called it a "total lack of decorum". Is this a meeting of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Bharatiya Janata Party or a legislature session? they asked. There is not a single poster of Prabhakar Kore, MLC, who is the key host of the session. On the first day of the session, posters and cut-outs of Janata Dal (S) leaders, including Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda were visible. Not to be left behind, the BJP took to the streets on Tuesday, and some Congress leaders, particularly former Home Minister R. Roshan Baig's, posters surfaced on Wednesday. As Belgaum will play host to legislature session every year, will this street display of party loyalty become a yearly phenomenon?
