ONGOLE: District Collector B. Udaya Lakshmi has exhorted private agencies to find placement for the unemployed youth after imparting them the necessary training under the Society for Training and Employment Programme (STEP). Addressing a meeting of private agencies here on Thursday, she asked them to assess job potential for various trades and impart training to the unemployed youth to meet the requirements of the employers so that they can be absorbed. Representatives of Reddy's Laboratories, Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council, Excel Security Services, NIIT, C to C and Lidcap participated in the meeting. They came forward to train 1,550 unemployed youth for absorption in hospitality and hotel management, customer relations and sales, bed-side attendants, IT enabled services, electronics and multi skilled workers, medical lab technicians, automobile and electronic mechanics, marketing executives, pre-nursery teachers, industrial helpers and semi-skilled workers, security guards, computer operators, call centre executives and making of leather goods. They assured placement of 70-80 per cent of the candidates after they underwent training for 4-6 weeks at different places in the district. While the call centre jobs would fetch them a salary of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 10,000, security guard jobs would fetch them a salary of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000 per month. They said that there was a good demand in hotel management and hospitality services, hospital attendants, lab technicians, marketing executives and pre-nursery teachers in the present marketing scenario. District Rural Development Agency and SC Corporation would pay the private agencies Rs. 2,500 per candidate for imparting training. Mrs. Udaya Lakshmi wanted the agencies to impart meaningful training during the period and ensure proper placement for them. She expressed happiness that private organisations came forward for the first time to impart training in computer courses and call centre jobs.
