HYDERABAD : State secretary of the Community Party of India K. Narayana on Thursday urged members of the All-India Youth Federation (AIYF) and the All-India Students Federation (AISF) to be prepared for a protracted struggle against governments that did not believe in keeping up promises. He was addressing a meeting organised by the AIYF to celebrate the birth centenary of freedom fighter Sardar Bhagat Singh at Lalitha Kala Thoranam here. He said while the world knew Mahatma Gandhi for his non-violent struggle against the British rule, the contribution of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh who took up arms and fought the British was not to be forgotten too.
Land reforms
Mr. Narayana regretted that despite so many struggles over six decades, land reforms still leave much to be desired. He criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for making tall claims about distributing land to the landless and lashed out at the way he appeared to be giving a free hand to MLAs to go about doing anything they wished to. Others who addressed the gathering included CPI's floor leader in the Assembly Chada Venkat Reddy and AIYF national president Devender.
