Austrian Embassy opens new visa centres

NEW DELHI: The Austrian Embassy here has announced the opening of new visa application centres in the country from October 3 to ease the visa application process.

The centres are located in Mumbai (022-66104111), New Delhi (011-41608609), Jalandhar (0181-5028028), Chennai (044-28230077) and Bangalore (080-41120941).

Applicants for a short-term Schengen visa who are residing in India can now come and submit their applications at the visa application centres. They can have their passports couriered to their specified address after processing or collecting it from the application centres.

Management training programme

NEW DELHI: The Principals' Centre organised a two-day training programme here this week on "Strategic Human Resource Management for Schools in 21st Century".

Specially designed for principals, head teachers, vice-principals and potential school teachers, the programme was aimed at providing an understanding of what leaders do in order to create excellent learning institutions, besides giving insights and tools to enhance the participant's leadership capabilities.

Interaction through video conferencing

NEW DELHI: The All-India Management Association's Centre for Management Education (AIMA-CME) conducted an executive education programme through video-conferencing recently for its middle and senior level executives.

AIMA-CME is poised to set-up the high-speed interactive and dedicated V-SAT network between its headquarters in Delhi and 50 locations across the country for two-way interaction. This will enable both the instructor and the student to interact through video conferencing and audio media.

Demand for Judicial Commission

NEW DELHI: The All-India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) has demanded appointment of a Judicial Commission to enquire into the circumstances of the recent police firing at Seelampur in North East Delhi.

In a statement, AIMMM president Syed Shahabuddin said a ``local enquiry'' had revealed that the police firing was not only ``deplorable" but also ``uncalled for and excessive". Moreover, the normal drill for a police firing was not followed, he added.

Gandhi Jayanti Mela inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma on Thursday inaugurated "Gandhi Jayanti Mela" at the historic Roshnara Garden here. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi organises this annual fair to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

The five-day mela will be open to visitors from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entry is free.
