Police auction rifles

NALGONDA: The district police on Thursday auctioned 14 single barrel muscle load (SBML) and two double barrel muscle load (DBML) rifles, according to an official press release.

The auction was held at the district police headquarters on Thursday in the presence of M.M. Bhagwat, SP. A licensed dealer from Hyderabad won the auction, the SP said.

No Dasara `mamools'

Meanwhile, Mr. Bhagwat said he would not spare those who harass people for Dasara `mamools.'

He said that Government employees, including policemen, should not collect mamools.

"We will take against those who collect money on the occasion of the festival," he warned, recalling the departmental action taken against some policemen for resorting to this type of extortion.
